The Scope Newspaper, St. John’s NL July 2008 -         Present
The Scope is a free arts and entertainment newspaper made available to the greater St. John’s area on a bi-weekly basis. More than 13,000 copies of the newspaper circulate to more than 260 locations throughout St. John’s, Mount Pearl, Paradise and Conception Bay South areas. The paper features local writing, photography and illustration.

Republic of Doyle, CBC Pilot Series, St. John’s NL September                  2009
Republic of Doyle is a TV series commissioned in-part by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation that was shot in and around the St. John’s area throughout 2009.  

 

Camera Trainee, 2nd Unit Camera Crew  
1.      For two days, I assisted the camera crew with equipment set-up, tear down and recording of shot-list paperwork for various scenes  

2.      Observed the professional 2nd unit camera crew as they prepared and shot various scenes over a two-day span

 

Futures in Newfoundland and Labrador’s Youth (FINALY!), St. John’s NL Sept 2008 -           March 2009
FINALY! is a youth organization that addresses social and economic issues that face Newfoundlanders and Labradorians aged 15-35 years. FINALY! serves its over 1200 members via comprehensive programs, such as the Youth Mentor Project 2009, a six-month pilot project designed to strengthen the participation of rural Newfoundland youth within their communities while enhancing their employability and leadership skills.   
Youth Mentor Project Coordinator  
1.      Completed a 6-month internship as the Project Coordinator for the ’Youth Mentor Project’; the first pilot project of its kind by the provincial-wide youth organization, FINALY!  

2.      Assembled and trained a team of nine volunteer youth mentors to facilitate a series of youth development workshops, effective November 2008-March 2009

3.      Coordinator duties included project planning, facilitation and budgeting, preparation of workshop and media materials, facilitating a two-day training session for all mentors and presenting to FINALY! members and non-members about the progress of the project

4.     Attended the four-day CCEDNet Winter Gathering in Winnipeg with fifteen other CCEDNet interns from across the country; received career development training through tele-learning and workshop sessions

5.      Helped to facilitate and organize FINALY!’s Annual Leadership Conference, October 2-5, 2008; a four-day long conference with 60+ Newfoundland and Labrador youth attendees 

 
Concordia University Television Station (CUTV), Montreal QC Jan 2008 –         June 2008
Canada’s oldest student-operated television station. Since 1969, the campus and community television station has been making visual media and training programs accessible to students and its community members. 

 

Volunteer & News Director  
1.      Created weekly news segments, www.youtube.com/user/CUTVNOOZE  

2.      Received hands-on technical training using Panasonic DVX1000-series camera, Final Cut editing software    

3.      Received employment with the student-run news collective as news director, May-June 2008; developed news stories and contacted local people and organizations to interview and discuss newsworthy issues
